Chicago Blues History Tour: West Side & Maxwell Market District

120 minute narrated sightseeing (and listening, and smelling!) tour with promoter/educator/writer Steve Pasek, chronicling the history of Chicago Blues, and visiting the historic Maxwell Market District, returning downtown 2 hours later.

This tour explores the historical significance of the Market as well as its strong connection with Chicago blues music, and we’ll provide some historical context during a brief shuttle ride that will allow you to experience the Market first-hand.

Shuttle service from downtown Chicago to the Maxwell Market District drops you at the northern edge of the Maxwell Market district, giving you about an hour to explore the sights, sounds, and smells of the Maxwell Sunday Market, where vendors of all kinds sell goods every Sunday, usually accompanied by a soundtrack —  the longtime tradition, a live Maxwell St. blues jam.   We’ll pick you up at the south end of the Market, and provide you with the Sunday “breakfast of champions” (a Polish with fries) at Jim’s Original Maxwell St. Polish, another recommended authentic Maxwell Street tradition!
